A tropical resort island in southern Thailand, in the province of Krabi—Ko Lanta. Each day hordes of young folk from all ends of the Earth travel here for sun, sea, and other things on their mind. On the southern end of the island is one of the piers conveying these young hedonists. There is no sign as such, but on the travel maps this is labelled "Lanta Pier". It is situated on the southern end of the "old town" of Lanta, the original Thai town situated on the east coast of the island so that it is not periodically swept away by tropical storms which periodically, and from time to time, damage the tourist accommodation and facilities on the west coast.
The pier is reached via a 400m walkway. Once there the pier itself is large enough for several inter island ferry boats to park. Solidly built, covered, and a popular spot for fisherman. The waters here are shallow, and the tide large, so the long walk is necessary.
Boats from here, carry cargo and mainly travel southwards to the province of Trang. No sign of ticketing. This would be done mostly via the innumerable travel agencies on the island, by your hotel, or on the ferry itself.
