The benchmark is a steel rod underneath a hinged cover, approximately 6" below the surface of the ground. It is a New York State Department of Transportation ROW marker.

To reach from Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo, travel east on Court Street for two blocks to Pearl Street. Turn right onto Pearl and head south for .3 miles to Swan Street. Turn right onto Swan and continue for one block to Franklin Street. At Franklin, Swan Street changes to Erie Blvd and jogs to the left. Travel on Erie for .4 miles to an intersection with Marine Drive and the mark on the left.
