Samford Hall is one of the oldest buildings at Auburn University, so it is no surprise that the spire was used as a mark.

The building is located on South College Street, at the intersection with West Thatch Street. The tower is hard to miss. It is the tower with the clock and wind vane. The clock is a waymark (WMA83), and there are several waymarks within walking distance.
In reading the description, one needs to know that when it was first monumented in 1930, Auburn University was called Alabama Polytechnic Institute. The following is the 1983 description from the datasheet.
01/01/1983 by NGS (GOOD)
DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1983 (DAH) RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE TALLEST PART OF THE BUILDING IS A CUPOLA WITH A WINDVANE AT THE TOP CENTER. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN--AT AUBURN.
