Nearby plaque reads: "This bell originally hung in the Hollow Church which was relocated during construction of the Compensating Reservior. It was cast in Hartford, CT in 1834." And another "Dedicated 1997. These boulders were provided by the generosity of the Metropolitan District Commission. They were part of the Sawville Dam spillway and washed out in the 1955 flood."

So likely this bell was placed here in 1997 as part of this display. Rings nicely.
