This place was classified as spot of interest, but nevertheless, it's very remote. There is a small hamlet a couple of hundred meters from the spot and a sign explaining the huts.

Text from the sign:

"The name Currais indicates the purpose of this cluster of buildings and patios. These are shepherds' huts, which were built from local stone, and were the result of notions of the dynamic balance of forms, with no recourse to cement.

The huts are built of blocks of stone extracted directly from the earth to free the work area, area positioned ergonomically in a circle. The roofs are thatched.

Migratory herding is as old as the raising of livestock, due to the wearing of pastures. The practice still continues to this day in the area of Cachopo, but the animals travel by lorry. In the past, the small livestock would cover large distances using trails often bordered by stone walls, to protect adjacent crops. Some smaller back to back outdoor compartments, occasionally rectangular in shape, are believed to have been enclosures where lambs and kids in need of special attention has been kept."
