The PNC Arena is located in Raleigh, North Carolina and is home to the NHL Carolina Hurricanes and the North Carolina State University Wolfpack Basketball Team. The arena was completed in 1999 at a cost of $158-million. When it opened in 1999, the arena was known as the Raleigh Sports and Entertainment Complex. In 2002 the Royal Bank of Canada acquired naming rights to the arena and the name was changed to the RBC Center. In 2012 PNC Financial Services bought RBC and changed the name to PNC Arena.
The Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League moved to Raleigh and became the Carolina Hurricanes. The PNC Arena hosted its first NHL Game on October 29, 1999. On June 19, 2006, the Hurricanes defeated the Edmonton Oilers at PNC Arena to capture the Stanley Cup.
PNC Arena is also home to the North Carolina State University Basketball. PNC Arena is the 2nd largest basketball arena in the Atlantic Coast Conference and is one of the most modern facilities in the United States.
PNC Arena features state of the art locker rooms,66-luxury suites and a 500-seat restaurant. It seats 19,722 for basketball and 18,680 for Hockey.
There is plenty of on site parking both at the Arena and at nearby Carter-Finley Stadium. Parking fees vary by event and by lot location.
