Originally monumented in 1943, this tank has been repainted different colors over its life. The current color seems to be a faded white, with a large Auburn on the side done in the orange color used by Auburn University.

The 1943 and 1983 descriptions from the datasheet read:

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1943 (GWL) THIS INTERSECTION STATION IS THE AUBURN WATER COMPANY, ARMSTRONG STREET, TANK. IT IS A SQUAT BOWL ATOP A 6-LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE, OVERALL HEIGHT ABOUT 125 FEET AND IS PAINTED ALUMINUM COLOR. IT IS 150 FEET E OF THE CENTER OF ARMSTRONG STREET AND 41 FEET S OF THE S FENCE OF THE AUBURN CEMETERY. THE POINT OBSERVED UPON WAS THE BALL AT THE APEX OF THE ROOF OF THE TANK.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1983 (DAH) RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE TANK IS CURRENTLY PAINTED LIGHT BLUE-GREEN. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN--IN AUBURN.
