It a violation of Federal and State law to collect pitcher plants in the Big Thicket Preserve. The rangers patrol the trails to protect these plants. Don't end a fun visit to a cool place with an in-custody trip to the nearest Federal courthouse and a personal introduction to the local Federal prosecutor.

The parking coordinates are for the visitor center at the preserve HQ. Everyone should stop in to the VC first because this preserve is not contiguous -- it is in several distinct patches, and the map you get here will be very helful.

Pitcher Plant Trail parking very near the turn-off of FM 1943, which are the waymark coordinates. The trail itself is a nice boardwalk, with sevreal benches and seating areas along it.

The best time to come is in the spring, when the pitcher plants are flowering.
