Visitors to the Sundial Bridge are awestruck by the large, white sundial that reaches into the sky, encouraging visitors to walk across this very contemporary bridge and take in the scenery. The architecture of the bridge is simple and clean, with opaque glass pieces that form the walkway and thick steel suspension cables that reach up to the sundial, connecting themselves at different points along the way.

Once visitors arrive on the north side of the bridge, they are welcomed with lots of triangular white tiled pieces in different sizes that form the base of the sundial as well as ornamentation for different aspects of the bridge railings and accessories. One of these tiled ornamentations is the bronze bridge plaque in which a strip of tiles surrounds the plaque, contrasting itself with the gray concrete sidewalk and catching peoples' attention in certain light that reflects off the tiled pieces.

The circular plaque is filled with verbiage which says the following:

Sundial Pedestrian Bridge

This unique bridge was designed by Santiago Calatrava, an architect who is widely renowned for his creative bridge designs.
