The foundation stone for this church was laid in 1880 by Samuel Booth. However, the story begun in 1849 when a John and Caroline Tong moved into the area which consisted of three small roads and a prison on the hill. Well the village is now much larger, and the prison is still there. Mrs Tong, with her strong faith and determined character became everything to everyone in good works, nurse, home-help, teacher and preacher by example and testimony so that her Lord might be honoured and praised.
The website for this church is amazing and i would recommend it be looked at and read, especially the history as it has old photo's of members and other documents.
