The Beechcraft CT-134 Musketeer was a military training derivative of the C23 Sundowner built by Beechcraft for the Canadian Forces. The CT-134 was a single engine, low-wing, four-seat light aircraft with fixed landing gear and a limited aerobatic capability.
The initial complement of 24 aircraft were delivered in 1971 and carried the tail numbers 134201-134224. In 1980 an additional 24 Musketeers were ordered with tail numbers 134225-134248. They were the more modern Civil designator BE23 Sundowner IIs and were given the military designator CT134A Musketeer II. The original 24 were retired and given to various non-flying institutions and used as battle damage repair units and displays. The proviso on donation was that the aircraft were not to be flown due to the excessive pounding the airframes and engines took after 10 years of initial pilot training.
All Musketeer IIs were replaced by Slingsby Firefly aircraft by the early 1990's and subsequently retired.
CT134219 started service with 3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (3 CFFTS) at CFB Portage La Praire Prairie MB. A few aircraft of this type also saw service with the Flight Instructors School (FIS) at CFB Winnipeg and at Aeronautical Engineering and Test Establishment (AETE) at CFB Cold Lake AB.
The aircraft still bears the markings of 3 CFFTS, based at CFB Portage La Prairie.
The museum where 219 and several other aircraft and ground equipment are stored is a private collection amassed by the owner over many years. Aircraft are in various stages of disrepair. However, there is a seasonal inside museum containing all sorts of artifacts.
At one time Musketeers 134206, 134212 and 134220 were also stored here.
