Manoir Grant

Grant Manor
Built in 1835 by Lord Ellice, this manor is surely one of the oldest buildings in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield that is still standing. Located in a section of Valleyfield that was once the village of Saint-Timothée. In 1843 it was the scene of the uprising of Irish workers assigned to digging the first Beauharnois Canal. This black page in the history of the country ended in a violent crackdown that killed more than 20 Irish workers. The building is listed heritage site by the city and has a private reception room.
