Dolmen D22 is the smaller sister of D21. They have the same structure but D22 is in a worse state. The three casing stones are messy. If you come into you recognize the Dolmen. The stones that the casing stones still should keep that up, as it were, are still under the ground. It is the smallest Dolmen in Drenthe still stands.
Yet in the past here 41 different earthenware found and is still unique in Drenthe with each its own Dolmen each piece of history.

Source: The stones of the Dutch Dolmens are thought to have been moved here during the Ice Age, when the land ice stretched to the middle of the country as we now know it.
Purpose: Even though Dolmens are often thought to be burial grounds, there is ample evidence that corpses were burnt instead of buried. Some of the "hunebedden" do contain artifacts thought to be to help deceased people on their last voyage.
