The first thing to notice when you come into this dolmen is the enormous beech who stand near is. Therefore the whole picturesque appearance. The beech is now also part of the Dolmen. This you can well see on one of the photos in the gallery.
Dolmen D21 has three huge casing stones and is not very large in size. The instance counts 8 wear stones and with the 2 connect stones is this dolmen very complete. It is clear where the port has been sitting and there are still 1 port stone on that side.
The Dolmen is situated between meadows and is close to a group of dolmens, namely Dolmen D23 to Dolmen D25.

Source: The stones of the Dutch Dolmens are thought to have been moved here during the Ice Age, when the land ice stretched to the middle of the country as we now know it.
Purpose: Even though Dolmens are often thought to be burial grounds, there is ample evidence that corpses were burnt instead of buried. Some of the "hunebedden" do contain artifacts thought to be to help deceased people on their last voyage.
