Abstract sculpture consisting of five open quadrilateral shapes are linked together to suggest Olympic Rings. The two end rings and the center ring sit directly on the ground.
From the Smithsonian AIC Remarks:
The sculpture was commissioned by the City of Dayton City Beautiful Council's Alternative Spaces Residency Program and was purchased by the Dayton Art Institute. Steel was provided by Armco Steel Corporation. Fabrication assistance was provided by Hobart School of Welding Technology. The sculpture was named in honor of Jesse Owens, who died the week the piece was installed.
