The Heaton Cooper Studio is the home of the fourth generation of the Heaton Cooper family. All four artists from this family are landscape painters. Originally in water colour, now in oils as well. Prints of the early work are on sale here.

Alfred Heaton Cooper was the first landscape artist of this dynasty. Originally settled in Coniston, he moved his studio to Ambleside and is now the Log Cabin Restaurant on Lake Road.

Next in line was William Heaton Cooper who built the present gallery in Grasmere in 1938.

The gallery is still family owned and run.
