This brass and stone compass rose has been set into the patio area at the high point overlooking the bowl that is Legoland. It is at the eastern end of the entrance area and a view of the bowl is to be had along with distant views of Windsor Castle.
The cardinal points are cast in brass and fixed with brass rivets, the axes are also brass and set in on edge. There are five rings of setts forming a circle inside which are eight circles made of smaller setts, the whole surrounded by a ring of paviers. The 'E' point is slightly damaged showing that the letters are not cast integrally with their mounting plate.
A strange place to put a rose, right next to a railing, and it would appear to have been left over from a previous existence, the former Windsor Safari Park which operated on this site until 1992, and 'built around' during modifications to the area.
