Jalé Eco Lodge was started a couple of years ago by a group of French; nowadays it's managed by Santomeans. The comfort standards are very low. Basically you will find a couple of beds inside and it's about it. But the location makes the difference. The three cabins are right on the beach, in a paradise of ocean, palm trees and jungle.

Breakfast is included and it's not bad at all. It was a surprise to see a motorbike coming with our breakfast: freshly fried cookies, tropical fruits, tea and coffee! All delicious!

Reservations can be made online in different websites, but it will be OK if you just show up in the nearby village of Porto Alegre and look for the reception, which works in a local shop.

Ah! And if you are lucky... this is one of the beaches where turtles go to lay down their eggs, usually in late October and November.
