This lighthouse was built in 1828 by the British near their naval base. It is located on the peak in the center of the old Venetian fortress east of Kerkyra (Corfu Town).
The fortress is one of the main tourist attractions of Corfu and the peak is open to the public up to the base of the tower; the tower itself is closed.
The tower has a height of 8.5 meters (28 ft), which makes a focal plane of 78 meters (256 ft). It is unpainted and attached to a stone keeper's cottage, both are not in best shape but the lighthouse is still operational. Its characteristic is two white flashes every six seconds. Registry Number: E 3756.
