The statue was created by Mary Spencer-Watson for the millennium. 'Mason' represents the stone-working trade and marks a thousand years of quarrying the local stone.
Standing on the corner of the churchyard of St George, the statue looks out into the village. He stands, working a column of stone between his legs and holds stone-working tools. He is dressed in a ribbed jacket. On the base MM is inscribed to denote the millennium.
