A rare type of Orientation Table, cast in bronze, an exact copy 1/500 scale model of Newport Castle and the surrounding area. Very easy to see or touch and understand the layout of the Castle. One advantage of this type of table is it can be used by the blind.
The demands of modern transport have almost squeezed this castle out of existence. Most of the castle now lies buried under roads, and only the east side survives. The Castle is sandwiched between a road, a railway bridge, a road bridge, and a river. Take a look at Satellite view, at the Castle Co-ordinates. The Castle web site photos, shows the North tower within inches of the railway bridge.
