Sergeant Reuben Slaughter Jr. ~ Charleston, West Virginia
He served under the command of George Clendenin and Daniel Boone both from Kanawha county. Early in 1789 it was thought that Indians were preparing for an incursion into Southwest Virginia. George Clendenin collected the available military force at the mouth of Elk river (Now known as Charleston, West Virginia) and hastened to Point Pleasant to prepare for the attack. The documents of this action indicate that Reuben Slaughter Jr. served in this group as a 2nd Sergeant and provided vital guard duty for the area at Point Pleasant.
In 1791 at Kanawha County Reuben married Mary “Polly Donnally, the daughter of Colonel Andrew Donnally
