A celtic cross in commemoration of fallen canal workers located in Douglas R. Fluhrer Park in Kingston. It overlooks the foot of the Cataraqui River, the southernmost part of the Rideau Canal Waterway. Erected by the Government of Ireland and the Kingston Irish Folk Club. This celtic cross is one of four monuments honouring the extimates four thousand irish labourers who were responsible for helping to build what has now become a world heritage site.
The memorial reads as follows:

IN MEMORY OF AN ESTIMATED ONE THOUSAND IRISH LABOURERS AND THEIR CO-WORKERS WHO DIED OF MALARIA AND BY ACCIDENTS IN TERRIBLE WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE BUILDING THE RIDEAU CANAL
