John Aldrich (1760-1843) was a soldier in the American Revolution, taken prisoner on Long Island, and confined in a British prison ship. He was transferred to the flag ship of the British fleet and taken to Jamaica where he was in charge of an English hospital until the close of the war. He served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War under Gen Washington, was engaged in the battles of White Plains and Long Island NY, was taken prisoner when serving on board a Yankee Privateer and put in confinement on board the noted British Prison Ship Jersey for 12 days. He was from there transferred to the Flag ship of the British Fleet and taken to Kingston, Jamaica, WI and there remained until the close of the War in charge of an Inglish Hospital.
