Thomas Condon was the first professor of geology teacher at the University of Oregon, back in the 1870's. This 5-foot circular medallion was mounted at the fourth floor level of Cascade Hall at the University of Oregon.

Artist Wayne Chabre produced twelve hammered copper gargoyle-like sculptures for the University of Oregon from 1986 to 1988.

Somewhat amazing to me, is that the sculpture can be seen in Google Street View, on the pathways of University of Oregon.

From the Smithsonian AIC Remarks:
Cost of sculpture was about $3,139.
