This granite boundary monument marks the Massachusetts-Connecticut state-line between the Town of Dudley, Massachusetts and the Town of Thompson, Connecticut. The marker is located along the Quinebaug rail trail some 10 - 15m off the north side of the trail itself.
The marker can be accessed from either of two parking locations and a short hike to the state line. The Massachucetts side has been improved to a public access rail trail suitable for non-motorized travel. The Connecticut side has not been improved and is slightly overgrown and still contains many of the railway ties scattered on the ground. While the Conneticut side is shorter, it might be difficult to cycle but is easily walkable. The marker was set in 1906 and was found in a good condition. Unfortunately some graffiti has been spray painted on one side of the marker.
The marker has the following text engraved on its sides:
Northern side: D (upright - stands for the Town of Dudley) MASS (in book spine orientation)
Southern side: T (upright - stands for the Town of Thompson) CONN (in book spine orientation)
Western side: 1906
The top of the marker has a little drill hole in the middle.
