The Biodôme de Montréal was originally constructed for the 1976 Olympic Games as a velodrome. It hosted both track cycling and judo events. Renovations on the building began in 1989 and in 1992 the indoor nature exhibit was opened.

The Biodôme is a unique museum allowing visitors to walk through replicas of four ecosystems found in the Americas: the Tropical Forest is a replica of the South American rainforest; the Laurentian Forest is a replica of the North American wilderness; the Saint Lawrence Marine Eco-system is an estuary habitat modelled on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence; a polar area that is divided into Arctic and Antarctic.

The Biodôme's ecosystems are designed for self-guided tours. Interpretation panels are posted all along the pathway, and nature interpreters are available in the ecosystems and at the Info-Ecosphere desk to answer visitors' questions. Audioguides are also available for a small fee.

At Naturalia Discovery Room in the Biodôme basement, nature interpreters answer your questions, play games and give demonstrations for kids and their parents. In this room, children are allowed to touch which is a good way to learn.

A lynx born at the Montreal Biodôme in May 2012, has made his first public appearance three months later. The cub is the first lynx born at the Biodôme in its 20-year history. See it on Youtube: (visit link)

There will be no requirement for posting a visit; but a photo of you with your GPS or just your GPS somewhere on the museum grounds or in the museum would be fun. Preferrably at the entrance or near the museum sign. Actually going IN the museum is also NOT required for posting a log.
