This is one of two benchmark posts by Merton Cemetery and are so close you can see one from the other. #54, they were likely placed to figure out where to build the service road and highway to go around the cemetery. It would not surprise me if there turned out to be another set of benchmarks on the QEW side as well.
The benchmark was placed by the Ontario Department of Highways.
