Built in 1946, this water tower was moved to its present location in order to make it a high profile part of the new Railroad Museum.

In 1994 this water tower was moved about 1500 feet north east from a location close to the CPR's roundhouse. It is now an integral part of Cranbrook's railroad museum, housing exhibits portraying local and regional railway history. The engineer for the move was John Armstrong and the actual move was accomplished by Elvin Townsend Housemoving.
