This WW1 Memorial is one of Viquesney's bronze Spirit of the American Doughboy statues mounted upon a high granite base. It was dedicated Nov. 11, 1937 to World War veterans of Comal County. The monument was donated by Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Clousnitzer.

The US American Legion has a large logo on the front of the base, below which is engraved:

The bronze sculpture of a WW1 Army soldier is in the classic pose of Viquesney's Spirit of the American Doughboy. On the front of the plinth on which the soldier stands is the enscription "Spirit of the American Doughboy", below which is a short granite support into which an American flag has been engraved.
The soldier is holding a rifle fitted with a bayonet in his proper left hand. He wears the flat rimmed helmet characteristic of the WW1 era, and his prper right hand is raised high while holding a granade. The soldier wears a back pack and has various equipment harnessed to his chest. Each of his legs are wrapped from his shoes up to his knees. Around his waist is a cartrage belt.
