This historical marker is part of a series of historical markers located all around Klamath County and commissioned by the Klamath County Historical Society.

It was quite thrilling to think of this rock being a spot where bad men would hide out and wait for an unsuspecting stagecoach to travel by and then imagine some men jumping on the stagecoach and robbing the travelers over 100 years ago. And here, over 100 years later, not a whol lot has changed in this area, except for a lot less travel through these parts.

The Marker references an old wooden school that existed just to the north. This school has deteriorated over the years and has caved in and is nothing but a large wood pile. There is an unmarked grave next to the school that has a story to tell.

Directions to historical marker: If you're traveling south along Topsy Grade Rd which goes south from Hwy 66 (Green Springs Dr), you will see the T Marker on the right side of the road next to the large rock that bears the name of the T Marker.

The marker text reads:

"ROBBER'S ROCK."

SEVERAL STAGES WERE HELD-UP IN THIS VICINITY NEAR THE
FOOT OF TOPSY GRADE. FRAIN SCHOOL JUST TO THE NORTH.

I also located a reference to the last robbery at Robber's Rock in 1897 from the Siskiyou Historical Society here. A sheriff died in a shootout with the robber who was then killed by the sheriff's deputy and includes a picture of a cabin where the shootout occurred in Mott, CA (a good distance away from Robber's Rock).
