This anchor was from the container ship MSC Napoli which got into difficulties in bad weather in January 2007. The ship was under tow when it was thought the ship might sink in the Channel and the authorities decided to beach the ship of of Branscombe. The bad weather caused many containers to fall of the upper deck and people came from all over the UK to loot these as they came ashore. The ship was eventually cut in half by salvors, the bow section towed away for scrap and the rear section cut up on site and removed.
