This postal card was part of a series of stamps and stationery issued in conjunction with the Pacific 97 World Stamp Exposition held at San Francisco's Moscone center (29-May through 8-June, 1997). Besides the postal cards which showed views of the Golden Gate bridge, the USPS issued two triangle shaped stamps showing early mail transportation and a couple of souvenir sheets featuring designs similar to the first US stamps of 1847.
The scene on this particular stamp can be seen from a viewing area off Conzelman Road in the Marin Headlands area of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
