This single Giant Sequoia was planted by William Waldo in 1872. In order to protect this historic tree, the City of Salem designated the tree and the surrounding 150 square feet to be a city park. The tree is approximately 85 feet tall and stands at the north end of the Oregon State Capitol Mall.
