I was able to get a quick tour of the inside of the lookout tower and was told by the gentleman manning it that this metal tower replaced a wooden tower in 1951. There is a near 360 degree unobstructed view with a cell tower obstructing a small view to the SE.
This lookout tower is inaccessible during the winter months as there is too much snow to make car travel possible. Having a 4x4 is also recommended since there is some rocky terrain in the dirt road leading up to Chase Mountain summit.
