Ferndale School is a two-and-one-half-story brick building on a high foundation and has irregular fenestration. The structure is capped with a low hipped-roof with a central transverse parapeted gable flanked by hipped dormers. The open, wide eave gives the school a Craftsman appearance, the vertical door projections indicate Art Deco influence, and the parapeted central gable is reminiscent of the Tudor Revival style.
