In the centre of the village of Barton on Sea is this monument dedicated to the Indian Troop Convalescent Depot.

The monument inscription reads:

'This Memorial
is erected to commemorate
the establishment at
Barton on Sea in 1914
of the Convalescent Depot for
Indian Troops who fought in
Europe during the Great War
and was subscribed for by
members of the Staff.

Lt. Colonel J. Chaytor White L.M.S.C.M.C.
Commandant

Lt. Colonel W.A. Mawson L.M.S.
Assist Commandant.'

There is also an Indian inscription.

The monument is a small obelisk design and stands on the corner of a triangular junction.
