This wheel was installed in 1992 in the wheelpit of the much earlier wheel that powered the tinplate works and it's predecessor activities of corn milling, wool fulling, copper smelting and iron forging all on the same site. The modern wheel is the largest electricity-generating waterwheel in Europe and supplies electricity to the neighbouring town.
