Sidney Rigdon, born on February 19, 1793, in St. Clair, Pennsylvania, moved to Nauvoo in 1839.  His home was constructed in the early 1840s.  He has been described as a man with a mission to find "the fullnes of the gospel."  First a Baptist, then a Cambellite minister in Ohio's Western Reserve, Rigdon was baptized into the church in Novemter, 1830, in Kirland, Ohio.  He played a significant role in giving the church the prestige to obtain audiences for the mssionaries in the Western Reserve.

He and Joseph smith were most respoinsible for the early success of the church.  Rigdon became Smith's counselor, scribe, and mighty spokesperson. He was a dynamic and charismatic leader.  Ridgon was a member of the First Presidency of the church from 1832 until shortly after Smith was assassinated on June 27, 1844

Ridgon's home was also the post office and he served as city postmaster.  Regdon died on July 14, 1876 in Friendship, NY.  Several addtions have been made to original home.
