Text of marker:

Jonathan & Rebecca Wright Home

Built in the 1840s, this house was owned by Jonathan Wright.  Born in 1808 in Rome, New York, Wright was baptized and ordained an Elder by Hyrum Smith in May 1843.  While in Nauvoo he served as marshal and city concil member.  He died at Brigham City, Utah in 1880.

Mark Seigfried, pastor of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's Nauvoo congregation, had acquired this property by 1908.  He deeded the house to the church in 1961.  Additions have been made to the side and back of the original home.
