The NSR operates over track that was the formerly Union Pacific right of way. It travels to Railroad Pass at the Boulder City western city limits, a distance of about 3 1/2 miles, and then returns to the Museum.
The Nevada Southern Railway operates year-round except for the month of January when they are closed for maintenance. The trains run on Saturday and Sunday only and depart at 10:00AM, 11:00AM, 1:30PM, and 3:00PM. You can also catch the activity when they return about one hour after the listed departure times.
There is plenty of parking in the Museum parking lot plus vending machines, restrooms, and the shade of the open shed housing the Museum rolling stock.
