Times & Seasons Site

The foundation for the Times and Seasons building was located during the archaeological digs of the mid 1970s.  Publication first took place in the cellar of an old warehouse that stood on the northeast corner of Water and Bain street.  The warehouse removed and a one and one-half sotry building was built on the site.

Times and Seasons was the church's monthly newspaper devoted primarily to its interest with little news of the world beyond Nauvoo.  It was first published by Ebenezer Robinson and Don Carlos Smith (youngest brother of Joseph Smith).  The first issue was started in July 1839 and was completed and published in November 1839.

Publication moved across the street to the northwest corner of Water and Bain streets in 1841.  In 1844, the business was sold to John Taylor.  Taylor moved the business to Main Street between Kimbal and Parley Streets in 1845.
