A film based on the life of Oscar Wilde.

The Irish playwright has settled down in London and married Constance and has two children, Cyril and Vyvyan. His career is successful and he decides to come out of the closet about his homosexuality. He falls for, and becomes obsessed by Lord Alfred “Bosie” Douglas. Bosie’s father is the Marquis of Queensbury. The Marquis takes Wilde to court for being a “posing sodomite”. Instead of fleeing the country, Wilde is tried and convicted. He is sentenced to two years hard labour, which takes its toll on his health.
