An exiled Russian General, Bounine, aims to collect ten million pounds from the Bank of England by producing the heir to the Russian throne. He grooms a destitute Russian girl, Anna Koreff, to be a missing princess. At the end of the grooming Anna will be presented to the old Empress. Bounine is so successful he begins to believe Anna is really the princess.
