In Providence, on top of College Hill, is Prospect Park, which has a great view of downtown Providence.
Prospect Park is a two level open space, with a monument to Roger Williams along a tall retention wall that separates the two levels. The park (no signs) is between Congdon and Wheaton Streets. On street parking is on Congdon Street, which is also where the entrance to the upper part of the park is. The view is all along the edge that is lined with an iron fence. Trees are growing in, however, so, for the moment, the view is getting smaller.
Buildings of note are less than a mile away. To the right is the large, white building of the Rhode Island capitol. To the left you can see downtown buildings such as the copper domed Providence City Hall, the tall old Industrial Trust Building, and the old railroad station.
This would be a great place to view a sunset!
