The fountain is located on one of Vienna's most famous squares, thanks to its proximity to the Hofburg, Vienna's imperial palace. Michaelerplatz is dominated by the impressive neo-Baroque Michaelertor, the entrance gate to the Hofburg. Just left to this gate is located nice fountain named Power at the sea (Die Macht zur See) which was sculpted in 1895 by Rudolf Weyr and symbolizes the Austrian naval power. The statuary is made of white Laaser marble and it depicts a young woman (Austria) on a ship dominating "powers of the sea" (God of seas Neptune, sea dragon, etc..)
