This bridge operates from Mid-March to Mid-December while the Mississippi River barge traffic and locks are operating. Owned by the former CNW Railroad, the bridge still has many trains crossing daily. It opens frequently for barges, sailboats, larger cruisers, and the ocassional tourist paddlewheel.
I was lucky, and took these pictures from the Hwy 30 bridge. The hwy 30 bridge is closed all summer for repairs to the East end in Illinois.
