"(b Rorschach, 15 Nov 1820; d Zürich, 17 March 1867). Swiss pianist, teacher and composer. After studying in Zürich and Berlin, where he accompanied Jenny Lind in song recitals, he settled in Zürich as a piano teacher and choirmaster. His works, mainly patriotic choruses and romantic solo songs with piano accompaniment, express personal moods and experiences." from (visit link)

The monument by sculptor Jakob August Heer was erected in 1891. It is located in Platzspitz park in the center of Zürich a few steps north of the main railway station.
