The bridge was built by Berlin Iron Bridge Company in 1892. The bridge is 198 feet and towers over the river 24 feet below. It is a Warren or Hilton thru truss bridge, known for rigidity and impact resistance. The condition, at least the look, is amazing considering its age.
The bridge was built to service the nearby quarry It is one of the oldest metal truss bridge in Vermont. It is a survivor of the 1927 floods that destroyed over 1200 bridges in Vermont. The Berlin Iron Bridge Company was one of the largest in New England at its time and was known for their innovative design and building techniques.
