The plaque reads: This is the former site of Erie's municipal baseball park Glenwood Field, renamed in 1968 Mike Cannavino Memorial Field, baseball continued to be played here until 1982.

Not on the plaque: Mike's athletic career was cut short, but many big ten coaches admired him and he got them to bring players to Erie for the Thanksgiving Gem City Bowl. Because of this many local athletes were discovered. He managed various ball teams at Glenwood Field. He wanted to build a new baseball park for Erie, but couldn't obtain enough financial support. He died in 1965.
